Innovative Health Tech Projects

The webinar will provide a European perspective and discuss innovative health tech projects, and in particular, legal aspects pertaining to the development of artificial intelligence-based solutions and the use of health data in connection with such development activities. We will also briefly touch upon the new Medical Devices Regulation entering into force shortly.

Ridwaan Boda, ENSafrica, South Africa

Ridwaan Boda is an Executive in ENSafrica’s Corporate Commercial department, where he heads up the TMT team. He is also a member of the United Nations Global Pulse Panel of International Data Privacy Experts. Ridwaan has considerable experience and expertise in the TMT arena, having worked and advised on some of South Africa’s largest and most prominent information and communications technology (“ICT”) transactions. Ridwaan has advised and acted on behalf of various listed companies, state-owned entities, quasi-government corporations, and public sector bodies in a wide variety of sectors, including financial services, petrochemicals, retail, health care, pharmaceutical, technology, and resources.

Anna Haapanen, LL.D. Partner, Head of Technology & Co-Head of Intellectual Property, Dittmar & Indrenius Attorneys Ltd

Anna Haapanen is Doctor of Laws and Partner, Head of Technology & Co-Head of Intellectual Property at Dittmar & Indrenius Attorneys. In addition to Finnish LL.D. and LL.M. degrees, Anna holds an LL.M. degree with Stone Scholar Honors from Columbia University in New York as well as MSc. Econ from Hanken Swedish School of Economics. Anna has also conducted research as Visiting Senior Scholar at Stanford Law School in California. As a practicing attorney, Anna is specialized in a wide variety of technology-related contentious and non-contentious matters such as strategic legal advice for companies dealing with innovations transforming their business, including health tech, intellectual property rights as well technology transactions. Anna is recognized as one of the leading international technology and IPR lawyers and is a dual-licensed attorney admitted to Finnish Bar and New York Bar Associations.  She has practiced law in Finland, Sweden, and the United States. Anna serves also as the Vice President of the Technology Sourcing Committee at ITechLaw.

 

Anni-Maria Taka, Associate Dittmar & Indrenius Attorneys Ltd

Anni-Maria Taka advises international and domestic clients on data protection law, health technology as well as general contract and corporate law. She also advises clients with matters relating to intellectual property law, marketing and consumer law, compliance, and CSR. Anni-Maria Taka specialises in data protection issues and various legal aspects relating to data assets and the healthcare sector. She has good expertise in the legal framework for the processing of health data, including secondary use of health data. Further, Anni-Maria Taka has experience in complex data-intensive projects. Anni-Maria is also a doctoral student and she is working on her doctoral dissertation on the processing of personal data in connection with the use of devices for health and wellness. She is conducting her research work in the Doctoral Programme in Law at the University of Helsinki.
