Duty of Care, ITechLaw's and Yours

The International Technology Law Association ("ITechLaw” is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all 2021 European Conference participants. Our decisions and preventive measures will be guided by the requirements and recommendations of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), European Medicines Agency (EMA), World Health Organization (WHO) and federal, state and local health authorities in Portugal. We are working with the Four Seasons Hotel Ritz on implementing preventative measures to reduce the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus at our 2021 European Conference. Preventive measures include:

  • Proof of vaccination or negative test within 72 hours of arrival.
    • Participants will secure any testing needed prior to arrival in Portugal.
  • Rapid testing provided with a licensed medical agency twice during the conference.
    • Currently a requirement for Portugal but may change prior to the event.
    • ITechLaw will supply these tests as a part of the conference registration fee.
  • Medical services will be available throughout the conference.
  • Enhanced sanitization of meeting and exhibit spaces.
  • Masking and social distancing (exact parameters to be confirmed 1 week prior to the event)
  • Hand sanitizing stations throughout the hotel and offsite event locations.

The responsibility for a safe and healthy event environment (Duty of Care) is shared among the event organizer, venues, and every participant. All 2021 European Conference participants are expected to adhere to and abide by the safety precautions ITechLaw is implementing to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

As part of your Duty of Care responsibilities, you should not attend the 2021 European Conference if you:

  • are experiencing, or within the 10 days prior, have experienced signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
  • believe that you may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 within 10 days prior to the event.
  • have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by the health care team responsible for your treatment.

Conference attendees should self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and are asked to contact ITechLaw at memberservices@itechlaw.org if they experience symptoms of COVID-19 within 10-days after the 2021 European Conference. Should any positive cases be reported within the 10-day timeframe, ITechLaw will communicate this information to all registered participants. Any private health or personal data received by ITechLaw will be treated as confidential.

Please note that by checking the box during the online registration process, you agree to adhere to the precautions and policies above and understand that you are knowingly and freely assume all risks related to illness and infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, by attending this event. You understand that refusal to adhere to these policies and abide by these precautions may result in immediate removal from the event and cancellation of the registration, without receiving a refund.

*All ITechLaw policies are subject to change. Should changes be made, a notification will be sent to all registered attendees.
